A Flexible Payroll Solution. Payroll is one of
the most sensitive systems of any organization. Its main objective
is to produce employee pay stubs and deposits timely and accurately
while complying with government regulations as they apply to income
tax, pension, unemployment insurance, etc, as well as company
policies and collective agreement rules. However because all these
rules and policies are ever changing, the payroll system needs
to be flexible enough to accommodate quickly the required changes.
Saitran Payroll was built with that concern in mind and it takes
full advantage of the Knowledge-Based technology on which Saitran
7HR™ relies. In fact Saitran Payroll is fully integrated to Saitran
7HR™ and uses the same Saitran Engine's tools. But each system
was designed to play a key role in payroll processing: Saitran
H/R modules handle Gross Pay generation; Saitran Payroll
handles Net Pay figures and reporting.
The beauty of this approach is that gross pay processing is an
integral part of the HR system whereas the next phase could easily
rely on outsourcing for organizations that don't want to handle
the net pay task internally. This approach will also benefit global
organizations that have to deal with different payroll systems
internationally.

The Gross Pay Process. The Earnings are generated
by the Saitran 7HR™ Employment, Remuneration, Time & Attendance
and Scheduling modules. A variety of Time Sheets are available
for either negative or positive time entry. Virtually any type
of earnings can be defined including taxable and non-taxable income,
allowances, expenses and taxable benefits. Each type could be
accumulated in YTD counters separately. The non-statutory Deductions
are generated by the Saitran H/R Benefits and Deductions module.
The statutory deductions will be generated during the Net Pay
process. Individual transactions can be added/changed manually.

The Net Pay Process. This is where the paymaster
will perform payroll simulations and make the necessary corrections
and adjustments by checking the various control reports before
the payroll is finalized. The process then carries on with pay
stub printing and reporting, as well as file transfers to banks
and governments. The "Temporary Pay" concept allows
the Net Pay Calculation to be carried out as many times as needed
until all adjustments and corrections are satisfactory. All reports
can be printed before the pay becomes definite. This turns a very
simple concept into a real control tool. At any time during the
process the transactions can be reset to a previous status and
the process restarted.
